Security is an important – yet often, overlooked aspect of having a business. It is an area that many people feel can be cut back on or totally scrapped in order to save on money. We understand that. In the struggle of businesses in this uncertain time it’s natural for cost cutting to be going on where ever possible.

It can often be seen as an added ‘luxury’ something that a business could live without.  However in the long term, by cutting your security completely out, can end up costing you so much more.  Times are hard for people at the moment, we are reminded every time we put on the news.  There is constant reports in the paper about the rise in theft and criminal damage to properties.  This is a worry to not just home owners but also business owners.  We have had many people come to us for security AFTER a big break in which has cost them thousands and thousands in damages and time lost.  It is unfortunate that in some cases this has to happen for people to realise they really do need some form of security.

There have been news stories on recently where residents have clubbed together to pay for private security to patrol their streets or estates because of constant break in’s and a lack of response by police.  This in itself show’s how the constant cuts to the police force is impacting people directly.  As well as the increase in private residents employing security firms for mobile security there has been a rise in the amount of CCTV purchased for private premises.

Protecting your home or business

In this age of technology CCTV is definitely the way security is heading.  Although there are still many people who feel more comfortable having a guard on site, we have seen a huge rise in traditional manned guarding being replaced with robust CCTV systems.  Many private houses are installing cameras to help deter potential thieves or catch anyone who is up to no good on their property.  We are finding businesses are moving more towards this route also as in the long run it is saving them money and captures any video evidence of break in’s which is great for insurance purposes.

Manned guarding is still a popular choice and is becoming a lot more tailored.  We are finding that more and more clients who prefer a security on their site opt to give them additional duties than simply just sitting in a hut guarding the site.  We get requests for guards to open and lock premises, cover reception, operate gatehouses and weigh bridges and monitor CCTV.  Clients want more bang for their buck with security guards now and this is something we fully support.
